We took a trip to the zoo with Deanne (Brian's sister) and her son Michael. Austin and Brooklynn had so much fun running all over the zoo and telling there cousin how everything worked and where everything was. Thanks for the fun time!

Pinewood Derby / State Museum Day / Neighborhood Fiesta / Life

The elder’s quorum had a pinewood derby for the big boys of the ward. :) Brian was working on his car the night before like usual. Oh well maybe life will slow down some day, probably not though. Austin had a lot of fun helping his dad paint the skate board derby car and get it all ready. Brian didn’t win the derby but through Austin’s eyes he won every race. It was a fun outing for everyone involved.

Saturday September 13th was State Museum Day so we head over to Hogan’s park to see Hogan’s Cabin. It was a lot of fun to hear and see all about the little cabin we pass by so often. The kids love to hear all the stories about the different objects in the cabin and the brownies at the end were just an added bonus. Thanks Ann for telling us about this great event!

We had a neighborhood Fiesta last Wednesday. It was a lot of fun. Carrie did such a good job organizing it they even had a piñata for the kids. It was great to see so many neighbors all at one time!

And as many of you have probably noticed it has been a few weeks since I posted last and that is because. We are planning a trip to Disneyland (October 19th-26th), we have to get our cement poured relatively soon, my brother moved back, and my sister is probably moving in sometime soon with us so this also means that we are trying to finish some more of our basement for her to live in (thanks Nick for all your help). So that is why we are a little crazy around here. Hopefully life will come back to normal some day. :)

Olympic Gold Medal Mile & Cabela's

Today we got up early at 7:00 am on a Saturday to go to the Olympic Gold Medal Mile Fun Run/ Walk with the Intermountain Healing Hearts Organization. On the drive there Austin slept but the girls were awake the whole drive. We arrived at the park right around 8:30 and got the kids dressed in the back of the pathfinder and headed over to get our t-shirts and name tags from registration while the kids played on the playground. We then got our shirts on (they even had a cute little one for Ashlynn) and were ready to race the only problem was we had about 40 minutes left to wait for the race to start. While we were getting everyone’s shirts on the Hoods arrived and invited us to have bagels and chocolate milk and that helped tie over the time we had left. A quick stop at the bathroom and we are ready to go! Yea we are going to run/walk/roll a mile :). However since we got the kids up a lot earlier than they are used too they unfortunately were not very happy about walking and half way through the first half a mile Brooklynn began to cry. So I pulled her clear around to the start again (you had to go around the trail twice to make the mile) and lucky for her and us the Hoods had their stroller in the car and she was able to ride the other half a mile. While we were trying to find a way to make Brooklynn want to walk I suggested to Austin that Brooklynn might just beat him and of course there would be none of that he took off running and I did not see him until the finish line, Brian said that he ran almost the whole second half of the mile. It was much more enjoyable for everyone once Brooklynn was riding. I guess we will for sure be taking the double stroller with us on or vacation here next month. I was thinking the kids might be old enough to walk but after today that is for sure not the case. After the mile was over they had a presentation for all the Angles (those with heart conditions that have passed away) it was a very emotional presentation to say the least. Even though the day started very early for some of us in this family we are so glad that we went and got to participate in this event!

Thank you Hoods for giving us this opportunity to let our children learn about how to care and serve others!

On our way home from the fun run / walk we stopped at Cabela’s for the first time ever and had lunch and looked around. The kids really liked to look at the animals and watch the fish swim. We will have to go back another day when they feed the fish and watch that.

Park City / Safety Fair

Every year for as long as Brian can remember his family goes up to park city for Labor Day weekend. We haven’t stayed over for a few years because of the kids but it is fun to go up for a day during the weekend. This year was kinda strange to not have Brian’s parents there this year because they are on a mission and this year Brian’s brother Gene was the only one that stayed over. So when we went up for the day we got to spend some time with just his family. It was a lot of fun to eat at the standard Jakes Shakes for dinner, go up and ride the rides, and then go back to get Shakes from Jakes Shakes and then go play some games back at the condo until the kids got to tired. Sometimes it is hard for me to get myself out the door for things like this with our young children but I am so glad I do when I look back at all the great memories we made.

At Austin’s school they had a Safety Fair and we went over to see what it was all about. The kids learned all about how to ride safely and how to use hand signals. It was pretty funny they asked the kids what side of the road they should ride on and they all said, the side walk. I guess we will have to go to the safety fair here in a few years when they don’t have the boundaries of a sidewalk. :) They also got to look at a fire truck, look through a ambulance, receive a woods cross police badge from McGruff the dog, and get fire hats from the fire fighters. The kids were a little leery of McGruff but all in all they had a great time.
